Best AI tools for marketing agencies (2026): one verdict per tool
· Agency Brief
Most "best AI tools for agencies" lists have thirty logos and no opinions. This one has one pick per agency job, each with the verdict we published for it (KEEP, TRY, WATCH, REVIEW or SKIP). When we haven't reviewed a tool for a job yet, we say so instead of filling the slot.
A small-agency owner usually has three questions:
- Which tool should we use for each part of client work (writing, SEO, email, ads, reporting, design), and which ones can we skip?
- What does it cost for a team of two to fifteen, not for one person on a trial?
- Where is the catch: seat minimums, usage credits, or a feature your clients can now run without you?
How this list works:
- Verdicts. Every verdict below has already been published on a public Agency Brief page: an issue teaser, the free sample issue or a blog post. It's linked in each section. Each tool also has a page in our AI tools directory.
- Prices. Every price was checked on the vendor's own pricing or help pages on October 19, 2026, in USD, excluding tax. Where we couldn't confirm a USD price, we don't show it. It's listed under "What we couldn't verify" at the end.
- No affiliate links in this post. Affiliate programs never change our verdicts.
Writing and copy: Claude Team
Directory section: Writing assistants.
Claude Team: TRY (especially for long-form and voice-heavy work)
Verdict: TRY (especially for long-form and voice-heavy work), from Jasper alternatives for agencies. Tool page: /tools/claude.
Price (checked October 19, 2026): Team Standard seats are $25 per member per month billed monthly, or $20 billed annually, with a minimum of two members. Premium seats are $125 monthly or $100 annually. Anthropic says these are US prices and exclude tax (Claude Help Center). The individual Pro plan is $20 billed monthly, or $17/month on an annual plan ($200 billed up front) (Claude pricing).
What matters for agencies: Claude's plan table lists project sharing and collaboration on Team but not on Pro, and model training is "None by default" on Team (Claude pricing). In practice that means one shared project per client, holding its voice guide and approved samples, which the whole team can use. Team also connects to Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, Microsoft 365 and Slack, according to Anthropic (Claude Help Center).
The catch: limits are per member. Each seat has its own weekly limit, and a Standard seat gets 1.25x Pro's per-session allowance (Claude Help Center). Heavy writers may need a Premium seat, and at $100–125 a month that's no longer a cheap seat.
ChatGPT instead? ChatGPT Business costs the same: $25 per user per month billed monthly or $20 billed annually, minimum 2 seats, and OpenAI says it "won't train on your workspace's data" (OpenAI Help Center). Which one writes better for your clients is something to test. Our ChatGPT vs Claude for agency copywriting post has a one-week bake-off you can run. Our directory verdict for ChatGPT covers Slides; it's under reporting below.
Also reviewed for writing (details in Jasper alternatives for agencies and Issue #1): Jasper: REVIEW (review your seats) · Copy.ai Chat: WATCH · WRITER Starter: SKIP (for now). Anyword is under paid creative.
SEO and content: Surfer
Directory section: SEO & content.
Surfer: KEEP (the baseline)
Verdict: KEEP (the baseline), from Surfer SEO alternatives for agencies. It was also our KEEP in the Issue #1 teaser. Tool page: /tools/surfer.
Price (checked October 19, 2026): Billed yearly, Surfer lists Discovery at $49/month, Standard at $99/month, Pro at $182/month and Peace of Mind at $299/month. A separate AI-visibility tracking plan is $82/month billed yearly. Annual plans are charged up front (Surfer pricing).
What matters for agencies: content volume. Surfer's plan comparison lists 120 documents on Discovery and 360 on both Standard and Pro, and Standard tracks 25 AI prompts refreshed weekly (Surfer pricing). Price it against how many optimised articles you ship per month across all clients, not against the plan names.
The catch: Standard and Pro have the same 360-document allowance, so moving up doesn't buy more content. Standard includes 1 brand workspace (one site), Pro 5; above 5 client sites you need Peace of Mind. On annual plans, Surfer's FAQ says credits reset yearly or when you change plan, so pace your documents across the year (Surfer pricing). The page we loaded showed only annual prices. Its FAQ says annual billing saves "up to 17%" compared with monthly, so expect monthly prices to be higher (Surfer pricing).
Also reviewed for SEO (per-client pricing in Surfer SEO alternatives for agencies): Frase: TRY (the most agency-shaped plan) · NeuronWriter: TRY (if budget is the constraint) · Clearscope: WATCH (unlimited users, but drafts cap at 20 a month). We didn't re-check those three prices today. That post lists them as checked on October 18, 2026. Correction (Oct 23, 2026): label updated; see Surfer vs Clearscope for agencies.
AI visibility: Semrush's AI Visibility Index (and no tracker pick yet)
Directory section: AI visibility.
Straight answer first: we haven't published a verdict on any AI-visibility tracker yet. Every tracker in that directory section shows "Not reviewed yet", and we won't pick one we haven't reviewed. What we have reviewed publicly is one piece of research to use in pitches, and one competitor your clients may hear from.
Semrush AI Visibility Index (UK edition): KEEP (as pitch ammunition)
Verdict: KEEP (as pitch ammunition), from Issue #2, which you can read in full as our free sample issue. Tool page: /tools/semrush.
Price: this verdict covers Semrush's research report, not a paid plan. Semrush's pricing page didn't display plan prices when we loaded it, so we don't show any (see "What we couldn't verify").
What matters for agencies: the report's most useful finding for client conversations: averaged across 22 categories and four platforms, fewer than half of the top 100 mentioned brands also appear among the top 100 cited domains (Semrush). Semrush also found that Google AI Overviews had the lowest brand-mention overlap with the other platforms (Semrush). Taken together, that's a case for reporting AI visibility per platform, not as one score.
The catch: it's vendor research. Semrush calls itself "an Adobe company and the leading brand visibility platform" and sells AI-visibility tools (Semrush). Quote the findings as Semrush's.
Miracly: WATCH (it's pitching against you)
Verdict: WATCH (it's pitching against you), from Issue #2 (sample). Tool page: /tools/miracly.
What matters for agencies: Miracly describes itself as "a holistic GEO and AI operating system for marketing." Its co-founder says brands "kept being pitched by agencies that wanted $10,000 just to run an audit of our SEO and GEO" (Miracly). Its pricing FAQ says agencies running several brands take one subscription per brand (Miracly pricing).
The catch: Miracly's pricing page lists monthly plan prices but doesn't say which currency they're in, so we don't show them.
If you already pay for Surfer: it sells the $82/month (billed yearly) tracking plan above (Surfer pricing). Our Surfer KEEP is a verdict on Surfer for content work. We haven't tested its tracker.
Email and retention: Klaviyo Composer
Directory section: Email/CRM.
Klaviyo Composer: TRY (if you run email/SMS for e-com clients)
Verdict: TRY (if you run email/SMS for e-com clients), from Issue #2 (sample). Tool page: /tools/klaviyo.
Price (checked October 19, 2026): Klaviyo's free plan includes $5 of Composer usage a month, alongside up to 250 profiles and 500 emails a month (Klaviyo pricing). Klaviyo's help center says the free Composer plan has 500 credits per cycle and the paid Composer plan is $20 a month for 2,000 credits. With flexible overages switched on, extra capacity is bought automatically in $10 increments of 1,000 credits, and you pay the full $10 even if you only use part of it. Leftover capacity doesn't roll over (Klaviyo Help Center).
What matters for agencies: Klaviyo made Composer available to every Klaviyo customer on October 13, 2026. Scheduled tasks "run in the cloud" whether or not you're logged in, and Skills let you teach it a process once and reuse it across brands (Klaviyo). One of Klaviyo's example prompts audits live flows for expired coupons, broken links, out-of-stock products, draft messages inside live flows and any email whose revenue per recipient is 25% below its 90-day average, then returns a ranked fix list (Klaviyo). That's work many retention agencies bill for.
The catch: costs per action are estimates. Klaviyo lists "Create a campaign" at $0.10–$10.00 each and "Audit a flow, form, or template" at $0.10–$4.50 each, and says it shows no exact cost before an action runs (Klaviyo Help Center). Also, your clients have the same agent in their own accounts.
Also reviewed for CRM: HubSpot AI spend controls: KEEP (if you run HubSpot for your agency or your clients), from Issue #3. The detail that catches people out: the automatic spend limit (50% above your monthly credits) only applies after you buy additional credit packs (HubSpot Knowledge Base). Our per-portal checklist is in HubSpot AI credits and spend controls.
Paid creative: Anyword (for ad copy)
Directory sections: Ads & paid social and Writing assistants.
Anyword: TRY (only if you write paid ads)
Verdict: TRY (only if you write paid ads), from Jasper alternatives for agencies. Tool page: /tools/anyword.
Price (checked October 19, 2026): Starter is $49/month billed monthly or $39/month billed annually (1 seat, 1 brand voice). Data-Driven is $99/month monthly or $79/month annually (3 seats) (Anyword pricing). Flag: the same page also shows a conflicting summary line for Data-Driven ("$59/mo or $49/mo yearly, max 10 seats"). Confirm at checkout.
What matters for agencies: it scores copy variants before you run them. The page lists 50 performance predictions on monthly Starter and 100 on monthly Data-Driven (Anyword pricing). A paid-media team writing ad variants every week has a reason to pay for that. A general chat tool doesn't do it.
The catch: we haven't independently checked how accurate the predictions are. Treat them as one input next to your A/B tests, not a replacement for them.
No TRY yet for AI-generated ad creative. The ad tools we've reviewed are all on WATCH, from our free sample issue: Melius (late catches from early October), an AI platform for ad campaigns, images and videos (TechCrunch); GAIN Spirea (paid-social creative reporting) (GAIN IQ); Marklo (e-com campaign planning) (Crunchbase News); and Kargo Karlo (late catches from early October), for self-serve media buying (PR Newswire).
Social and scheduling: no public verdict yet
Directory section: Social & scheduling.
We haven't published a verdict on any social or scheduling tool. Every tool in that section of the directory shows "Not reviewed yet", and we'd rather leave this slot empty than recommend something we haven't reviewed. If your current scheduler works, keep it until we've tested an alternative. When we review one, it will show up in the directory with its verdict and a link to the page where we published it.
Reporting and ops: ChatGPT Slides
Directory sections: Reporting & analytics and PM & ops. Neither has a reviewed tool yet. Our one public verdict that fits this job is a ChatGPT feature.
ChatGPT Slides: TRY (pitch decks and client reporting)
Verdict: TRY (pitch decks and client reporting), from Issue #3. Tool page: /tools/chatgpt.
Price (checked October 19, 2026): OpenAI says Slides is available on ChatGPT Pro, Business and Enterprise plans with Space access (OpenAI Help Center). For an agency, that usually means Business: $25 per user per month billed monthly or $20 billed annually, with a minimum of 2 seats (OpenAI Help Center). We couldn't confirm the Pro price (see the end of this post).
What matters for agencies: you can build a deck from a conversation or attached files, edit it directly or ask ChatGPT to change it, co-edit with teammates in real time, and present from ChatGPT. On the web it exports to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides (OpenAI Help Center). Clients who live in Google Slides can keep editing the file.
The catch: it's still rolling out, so your account may not have it yet. Comment-only sharing isn't available at launch, and on Windows machines without a required component (Windows 10 isn't supported) the desktop app falls back to PowerPoint files instead of collaborative Slides (OpenAI Help Center). OpenAI's own advice is to review the text, figures and layout before you share. For client reports, check every number.
Web and design: Figma's design agent
Directory sections: Design & presentations and, for Webflow, SEO & content.
Figma Design Agent: TRY (on creative delivery)
Verdict: TRY (on creative delivery), from the Issue #1 teaser. Tool page: /tools/figma.
Price (checked October 19, 2026): Starter is free, with up to 500 AI credits a month. A Professional Full seat is $16/month on annual billing and includes 3,000 AI credits a month. Dev seats are $12 and Collab seats $3. Figma lists prices in USD (Figma pricing).
What matters for agencies: Figma's agent came out of beta on October 6, 2026. Figma says it's available to Full-seat users on Professional, Organization, Enterprise and some Education plans, with limited availability on Starter. Library owners can upload markdown "guidelines" that tell the agent how to use a design system (Figma). For an agency, that means one guideline file per client brand library.
The catch: since general availability, the agent uses AI credits from the same budget as Figma's other AI tools, and usage varies with how complex the prompt is (Figma Help Center). Watch your credit balance in the first month before you build it into a fixed-price scope.
If you build client sites on Webflow: Webflow + Gemini connected app: TRY (web and SEO agencies on Webflow), from Issue #3. Webflow says the connector is free to install, doesn't currently use Webflow AI credits, and respects existing roles and permissions, with AI actions attributed in activity logs. Which capabilities you get depends on your Webflow plan (Webflow via GlobeNewswire). Webflow's Basic site plan is $15/month billed yearly, and its Agency workspace plan is $35/month billed yearly (Webflow pricing, prices in USD).

How to test before you commit
- Pick one job, not five. Start where your team loses the most hours each month, and test one tool there.
- Use one real client and your last deliverable as the baseline. Run the same task (a brief, an audit, a report deck) through the tool and compare edit time to a client-ready result. Note what the tool missed and what it got wrong.
- Price it on your real units. Seats, client sites, documents, credits: whatever the vendor bills on. Credit-based tools (Klaviyo Composer, Figma's agent, Claude and ChatGPT usage limits) need a month of real usage before you know the cost.
- Start monthly, then go annual. Several plans above are cheaper on annual billing but charged up front. Commit only once a tool has survived a full billing cycle on client work.
- Write down what clients can now do themselves. Composer, Gemini-in-Webflow and tools like Miracly put agency tasks in front of clients. Update how you describe that work in your retainer before a client asks.
Verdict
For a small marketing agency in October 2026, our picks are: Claude Team (TRY) or ChatGPT Business for writing, decided by a one-week test; Surfer (KEEP) for SEO content; Klaviyo Composer (TRY) if you run e-com retention; Anyword (TRY) only if ad copy is a big part of what you bill; ChatGPT Slides (TRY) for decks and client reports if you're already on Business; and Figma's design agent (TRY) for design delivery, plus the Webflow + Gemini app (TRY) if you build on Webflow. Use Semrush's AI Visibility Index (KEEP) in pitches, and keep an eye on Miracly (WATCH). For AI-visibility tracking and for social scheduling, we don't have a pick yet, and we've said so.

What we couldn't verify
- Semrush plan prices. Semrush's pricing page didn't display paid plan prices when we loaded it on October 19, 2026, so this post shows none.
- Miracly prices. The pricing page lists monthly prices without saying which currency they're in, so we haven't shown them as USD.
- ChatGPT Pro price. The ChatGPT pricing page we loaded didn't display plan prices. We confirmed only the Business seat prices, from OpenAI's help center.
- Monthly billing prices for Surfer and Figma Professional. For both, we saw only the annual figures.
- Anyword Data-Driven. The page shows two different prices; we've shown the plan card ($99 monthly / $79 annually) and flagged the conflict.
- Melius, GAIN Spirea, Marklo and Kargo Karlo prices. We don't show prices for these WATCH tools. Melius's pricing page showed different figures for the same plan (on the plan cards and in its comparison table), and we didn't re-check the other three today.
- Klaviyo pricing from our location. From our location, Klaviyo redirected its pricing page to a localised version. The figures above come from Klaviyo's English pricing page and its US help center, both showing USD.
- Vendor claims. Accuracy of Anyword's predictions, the quality of Figma's agent output, and Semrush's research findings are the vendors' own claims or results. We didn't test them independently for this post.
- Our clear gaps: no reviewed AI-visibility tracker and no reviewed social tool yet.
We'll update this page as we publish new verdicts and as vendors change their prices.
